Rhombus Energy Solutions’ bidirectional 125 kW DC fast charger has earned certification to the Underwriter Laboratories 1741-SA standard.
UL’s 1741-SA Standard for Inverters, Converters, Controllers and Interconnection System Equipment for Use With Distributed Energy Resources defines the design and testing requirements to certify that bidirectional, grid-tied, smart inverters and chargers can be safely used to support distributed generation grid services and applications.
The Rhombus 125 kW charger and the previously-certified Rhombus 60 kW charger can be used in both Vehicle to Everything (V2X) and unidirectional charging use cases.
V2G technology enables EV fleet operators to use their vehicles for energy storage, allowing power to be returned to the grid during peak demand hours, or to be used to power buildings in a behind-the-meter approach. In combination with a V2G aggregation platform, Rhombus’s DC chargers provide fleet operators with tools to reduce energy costs and/or provide emergency power to buildings during power outages.
