Factorial Energy and Hyundai partner to test solid-state battery technology

Factorial Energy and Hyundai are partnering to test Factorial’s solid-state battery technology and its implementation in Hyundai EVs. The companies will integrate Factorial’s technology at the cell, module and system levels, perform vehicle-level integration, and co-develop specifications for manufacturing Factorial’s batteries. 

Factorial’s FEST (Factorial Electrolyte System Technology) platform leverages a proprietary solid electrolyte material that enables safe and reliable cell performance with high-voltage and high-capacity electrodes, and has been scaled in 40 Ah cells that perform at room temperature. The company says FEST is safer than conventional lithium-ion technology, can extend driving range by 20 to 50 percent, and is drop-in compatible for integration into existing battery manufacturing infrastructure.

“Our partnership with Hyundai is yet another validation of our solid-state battery technology, and we look forward to demonstrating its market readiness in Hyundai vehicles,” said Factorial CEO Siyu Huang. “We can help unlock mass adoption of electric vehicles through our safe and long-range batteries.”

Ola’s electric scooters have followed a circuitous path toward production, but deliveries are now set to begin December 15. Ahead of that date, the company’s CEO showed off several images from the factory showing a sea of electric scooters that have already rolled off the production line.
