Stellantis relaunches Lancia as all-electric marque, teases radical EV design

Italian automotive brand Lancia is experiencing a new renaissance in its 116 year history, and it involves going all electric. During a “Design Day” event today, the Stellantis subsidiary kicked off a ten year strategy that will introduce three bespoke Lancia EVs between 2024-2028. I’ve ridden every electric motorcycle out there. Here’s what I’ve discovered

Electric motorcycles are my jam. If I’m on two wheels and it’s not a bicycle, then odds are I’m on an electric motorcycle. I don’t ride them because they’re clean or green, though those are nice side benefits – I ride them because they’re fun and enjoyable. They’re infinitely better than sitting in a car watching the world go by through glass. And the ownership experience is so much nicer than gas motorcycles due to their greatly reduced maintenance, lower cost of ownership, lack of vibrating cacophony, and a laundry list of other reasons.

My love of these awesome e-motos has put me in a unique position of having ridden pretty much every one of them out there.

Flexible and scalable EV battery cycler

The need to quickly increase EV battery testing capacity is making validation labs harder to manage and forcing engineering teams to explore ways to sustainably scale up their test lab operations. From few to dozens of test cells, managing power from the battery cyclers is one of the main challenges that impacts lab efficiency, CO2 footprint, and operational expenses.

A software- and data-centric test strategy can help but requires flexible test equipment that can be synchronized, orchestrated, and operated effectively. Battery cycler flexibility and openness is critical to achieve the scale needed in modern battery validation labs. Learn more about NI’s HPS-17000, a 150 kW SiC-based power for EV battery test at scale.
