Roush Industries to assemble electric platforms for Bollinger Motors

Bollinger Motors has selected Roush Industries as the contract manufacturer to assemble its line of all-electric platforms and chassis cabs for commercial vehicles in Classes 3 through 6.

Bollinger will source and provide all materials for Roush to assemble its vehicles in a facility in Livonia, Michigan, near Bollinger’s Oak Park headquarters. Bollinger Motors will also work closely with Roush on assembling pre-production units and performing validation testing ahead of the ramp-up to production.

“We will be building state-of-the-art vehicles from day one right here in Michigan,” said Robert Bollinger, founder and CEO of Bollinger Motors. “Roush has significant engineering and assembly history, and we’re excited to work with them to provide our commercial fleet customers with exceptional electric vehicles.”

“Roush will help us to hit our quality and production targets confidently,” said Bollinger COO Bryan Chambers. “Roush’s knowledge base and track record in working with both startups and established OEMs was a big part of our decision.”

“Our proven processes are engineered to bring products to market quickly and efficiently, while meeting OEM-level quality standards,” said Brad Rzetelny, VP of Roush Flexible Assembly. “With fully scalable manufacturing, we can grow with Bollinger Motors to meet the growing need from its fleet customers as they convert to electric vehicles.”

SEMCORP to open battery separator film plant in Ohio

Battery materials provider SEMCORP Advanced Materials Group plans to invest $916 million in a facility for manufacturing battery separator film in Sidney, Ohio.

The company will build the new 850,000-square-foot facility at the Sidney Ohio Industrial Park. “Our Sidney site will be America’s largest manufacturer of separator film for EV batteries,” said SEMCORP co-founder and CEO Paul Lee.

“SEMCORP chose the Sidney location because of the state’s impressive commitment to vocational education, preparedness for a large-scale project like ours, and proximity to key customers,” said Group VP of Global Projects James Shih.

“SEMCORP is currently the largest lithium-ion battery separator film producer in the world, with five billion square meters in annual base film production capacity across six manufacturing facilities,” says the company. The Sidney facility is part of SEMCORP’s plan to increase this capacity by eight billion square meters by 2026.
