Webinar: Use of capacitors in series-parallel configuration for wireless resonant circuits

Wireless Power Transfer circuits demand stable high capacitance, high voltage capacitors to act as the tank capacitor in the LC resonant circuit. Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCCs) are increasingly used for this application due to their volumetric efficiency and cost-effective mounting techniques, but there are caveats that need to be followed to achieve reliable operation. This presentation addresses these issues and goes into greater depth on some of the aspects that must be considered in MLCC use. Webinar attendees will learn more about:

  • Circuit design for balancing current flow;
  • The constraints of MLCCs including temperature rise and thermal management; and
  • Alternative assemblies.

The webinar, hosted by Charged on May 18, 2022 at 1:00 PM EDT, will include a live Q&A session.

Penske adds Ford E-Transit cargo vans to its rental and leasing fleet

Penske Truck Leasing has ordered 750 Ford E-Transit electric cargo vans. The company conducted a successful pilot of the E-Transit late last year, and plans to take delivery of the first several vehicles in the next several weeks.

Penske Truck Leasing operates more than 372,000 vehicles from more than 1,300 locations on 5 continents. Penske will make its first Ford E-Transits available in Southern California, and plans to phase in other US locations later in the year.

Once the E-Transits go into service, they will be made available for both short-term rental and longer-term full-service leasing.

The Ford E-Transit has an estimated range of over 126 miles. Its Pro Power Onboard feature turns the vehicle into a mobile generator with up to 2.4 kW of power. Since beginning deliveries earlier this year, Ford has seen strong demand, and has been working on ways to increase production.

“We’re excited to help bring these new vehicles to market as both a rental and full-service lease option for our customers,” said Art Vallely, President of Penske Truck Leasing. “We continue to expand and diversify our fleet of electric vehicles and to offer new options for customers seeking more sustainable choices.”

Rad Power Bikes RadExpand 5 review: Here’s what’s hidden in Rad’s new fat tire folding electric bike

When the RadExpand 5 was first unveiled, I was surprised to see the company go in this direction and replace the RadMini with a new model. But now that I’ve spent some good time in the saddle, I see exactly what Rad was thinking, because the folding RadExpand 5 e-bike draws on some of the best parts of every other e-bike in the company’s wide lineup.
