Federal Tax Credits Extended for EV in Minnesota


Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Rate Reduction Incentive – Dakota Electric Association
Utility/Private EV Charging Incentive

Dakota Electric members enrolled in the ChargeWise program receive a reduced rate for the electricity used to charge PEVs between specified off-peak hours. Installation of a ChargeWise circuit is required. For more information, visit the Dakota Electric ChargeWise website.

Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Rate Incentive – Connexus Energy

Time of Day Program:

Connexus Energy offers reduced electric rates to residential customers in their service territory who charge PEVs. To participate, customers may contact their own electrician or Connexus Energy’s electrician to install the metering equipment. The meter must be permitted and inspected. Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Rebate:

Connexus Energy offers a $500 rebate for a previously purchased, qualifying Level 2 (240 Volt outlet) EV charger. Must be enrolled in Time-of-Day rate program and EVSE must be installed in Connexus Energy service territory. Applications must be submitted by December 31, 2021. Non-Residential Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Rebate:

Connexus Energy offers commercial customers a rebate of up to $2,000 for the purchase and installation of Level 2 EVSE. Eligible applicants include public entities, workplaces, multi-family units, and fleets. For details please visit the Conexus Energy Electric Vehicle website.

Plug-In Electric Vehicle (PEV) Wind Energy Promotion – Great River Energy

NEW! Great River Energy’s Revolt initiative offers the ability to power a PEV with 100% wind energy for the lifetime of the vehicle. Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Rate Incentive – Lake Region Electric Cooperative (LREC)
Utility/Private EV Charging Incentive

Plugin with ChargeWise—LREC’s New Electric Vehicle Rate They may be few in number now, but electric vehicles (EV’s) have arrived in the lakes area. Electric vehicle owners can save money every time they charge their car with LREC’s new ChargeWise EV rate. ChargeWise is a time-of-use rate, which allows you to choose what time to charge your car and how much you pay. The least expensive off-peak rate of 7.07₵ is available more than 60% of the time and is the equivalent of $.70 per gallon gas if the car gets 30 MPG. For more information visit the LREC website.

Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Rebate – Lake Region Electric Cooperative (LREC)

This program requires that a separate sub-metered circuit be installed to accommodate an Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) charging station. A rebate of up to $500 is available through ChargeWise for the installation of a Level 1 or Level 2 EVSE charging station. Call Energy Management at (800) 552-7658 for more information.

Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Rebate – Runestone Electric Association (REA)

Utility/Private EV Charging Incentive

Runestone Electric Association offers rebates to residential customers of up to $500 for the installation of Level 2 EVSE. To receive the full rebate, eligible applicants must enroll EVSE on a storage electricity rate of $0.469 per kilowatt-hour. EVSE not installed on storage rates will receive $250. Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Rate Incentive – Xcel Energy
